DANIELA BRUGGER

I previously studied Art Education at the Zurich University of the Arts and Fine Arts at the FHNW Academy of Art and Design in Basel along with guest semesters in Brussels and Budapest. Further, I have initiated my own projects, such as «Knastradio» – a radio project with offenders – and «Who writes his_tory?» – a collaborative writing project that investigates the reproduction of knowledge and structural discrimination on the Internet, especially on Wikipedia. I was the European ambassador of the international network «Art+Feminism» from 2018 to 2020 and co-manager of Ausstellungsraum Klingental in Basel from 2014 to 2017. Since the summer of 2020 I have been part of the management team of the foundation program of Schule für Gestaltung Basel. I was fortunate to also have completed studio residencies in Berlin, Cape Town and Johannesburg since 2017. In 2018 and 2019, I was awarded the Kulturförderpreis and the Werkbeitrag of the City of Basel respectively. For the past years I have been regularly represented in institutional and self-managed spaces, as well as nationally and internationally in various exhibitions and collaborations such as Kunsthalle Basel, Kunstraum Niederoesterreich in Vienna, Keleketla! Library in Johannesburg, zqm in Berlin and Westwerk in Hamburg. My work is presented in the form of installations, videos, workshops and performances, and sits between artistic production, collaboration, curation and art education.
